A group of seven students from Tauranga Boys College joined our Stoked Mauri Ora programme, taking on The Amazing Race and Adrenalin Forest  activities.  Facilitators, Leon and Nik, guided our group through a range of challenges while also including a segment on Choices – how to make good life choices.

The full day programme also included sliding around the draft karting track at Bay Station, Bay Park and learning about nutrition and cooking with chef Steven Wilson of KIWIZINE.

Each of the sessions was designed to challenge the boys to go to their “next level” in building self-reliance and self-confidence.

The boys all had a brilliant time while also leaving with some new-found knowledge and skills. When we asked them what was one new thing they learned at their session, here were some of their replies:

  • “Team work and communication” – Amazing Race
  • “How hard you’ve got to push to win” – Adrenalin Forest
  • “To not give up even when you want to” – Adrenalin Forest
  • “Learning about how much sugar is in a can of fizzy” – Cheffing
